Norm loves a good story. Before becoming a full-time storyteller, he was an award-winning teacher who told stories daily in his classroom and taught storytelling skills to students after school. He’s told stories professionally from Oregon to South Carolina, LA to BC. He’s been a featured teller at the Powellswood (2012), Art of the Story (2017), Stone Soup (2018), Dallas, OR (2019), and Florida (2021) Storytelling Festivals. Norm proudly narrated for the Seattle Symphony (2012), told at Seattle Art Museum (2014), and at the National Storytelling Networks’ Summit (2017 & 2018). He’s also performed his "Lighter Side of Lincoln” program dozens of times since 2016.
His extensive repertoire includes traditional tales, personal narratives, historical tales, and stories in song. One of his greatest joys has been performing and teaching with his wife, Anne Rutherford.
When Norm tells, people listen, and often join in. His music, zeal, and humor add to any occasion. Audience: all ages. Story types: folktales, traditional tales, historical, personal, song/music Themed programs and workshops.
