Jasmin Cardenas is a child of Colombian immigrants and enjoys sharing the joys and challenges of being bi-cultural in her personal tales for children and adults.
Jasmin has been an Exchange Place Teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesburough, Tennessee. Jasmin regularly does residencies and performs for people of all ages at festivals, schools and both public and private events. Her touring program Cuentos From the Americas takes listeners on a journey through folktales, and ancient myths and legends as she weaves between languages.
One of the first Latina’s to receive The Race Bridges Storytelling Fellowship Award, Jasmin uses storytelling and theater to pursue justice and humanity. A professional actress and Chicago native, Jasmin has performed at Steppenwolf and Goodman Theater and is an ensemble member of UrbanTheater Company. A proud SAG-AFTRA member her TV credits include ABC Betrayal & NBC Chicago Fire.
