An extraordinary storyteller from a little girl, amazing her friends and capturing their imagination … Andrea discovered the power of the spoken word which can transport us to different places in time and space. After years of sharing her stories with children and adults of all ages she is still enthusiastic about her craft and takes a special delight in bringing an awareness of the black experience and history to her audiences. Her voice invites you to travel with her on a journey, recapturing moments and memories, and touching the souls and hearts of her listeners.
Andrea excels in creating the ambiance of the stories by using her unique voice, visual expressions and sounds to make her characters come alive. Her original poetry is magically woven into her storytelling, painting beautiful and imaginative pictures with her words. Her original poem, "I Stand In Awe of Storytellers" is published in "Sayin' Something' Stories" from the National Association of Black Storytellers.
Andrea has spent over 32 years in the Chicago Public School system working with children and teenagers, and serving as a liaison between parents, students, and social agencies. She is a former co-leader and facilitator for Communications 37, a Chicago-based after school program teaching techniques or oral presentation of stories to high school apprentices.
