Mark has been performing since 1969. Then a member of the US AirForce, he entertained other GI's while working as a DJ on Americian Forces Network Taiwan. After the service, he attended college on the GI Bill, where he studied music, theater, art, and dance. Eventually graduating in 1980 from the University of Illinois Urbana with a BFA in Dance. He soon began to make a name for himself as the first developer and director of Lakeshore Athletic Club's Aerobic Fitness Program 1984. He built a program of 100 plus classes a week with a staff of 30+ teachers. 1n 1994 Mark spent a month studing African Dance with Ghana's National Dance Company. That was quickly followed the next year with a graduation from Emersion College's School for Storytelling in Forrest Row, England. Since then Mark has told stories at libraries, schools, Cub Scouts and festivals. Mark was the Resident Storyteller at the North Park Village Nature Center from 1996 until 2021 when Covid changed everything. Mark then turned to the internet and Youtube on his Storymanmark channel. Mark's "Stories from Around the World" programs are filled with humor, audience participation and family oriented.
